Cold Blood, Colder Heart.

Malaysians, have once again, proven to the world that we're no better than China when it comes to socioconciousness, or simply social conciousness. The recent incident in Penang where a live was lost, not because of the woman falling prey to brazen snatch thieves, but rather, a victim of a lackadaisical community who refused to even lift a finger to help TWO minutes after the incident, according to moments captured over the CCTV at the area.

As mentioned in my most-read post up to now in this blog, it's a fact and only suits us so well to call ourselves nothing but Asian-leveled keyboard-warriors. It's sad to reckon, but it's also befitting to label ourselves as people with a "First Class Facilites, Third World Mentality." What's the point of having CCTVs set up, living in a high valued land when the mindset of the people are so selfish and apathetic when it comes to lending a hand to save a life?

I can see how some years ago, netizens across Malaysia were so rilled up, agitated with pure (assuming they were, well, if not, I'm being sarcastic then) anger, itching to kill the perpetrator for the madness they heaved onto A BLOODY PET DOG. But no... the anger was only but a candle in the wind. Apparently, it's just an all-talk, no-show kinda business as usual in Facebook. Apparently, clicking a "Like" or "Share" of that mad video ups your credibility as a concerned human being, right? Then, once the duty of sharing or liking is done, we Malaysians conveniently forget everything. And who would have thought Malaysians literally learned nothing about being socioconcious. Take two on two, suppose we do know we live in a mad world, wouldn't it be logical for the community to be more concious and empathetic of situations, like such of what happened to that poor lady; sprawled on the ground with a broken skull, succumbing to her injuries hours later due to the apathy of the people who actually WALKED passed her as if nothing had happened. The situation is so disgusting, a carbon-copy of the remnant news where a two year old girl in China was ran over by a vehicle and 18 passer-bys just walked passed without even looking or helping. So, how far apart are we from China anyway?

I deeply sympathize with the lost of the victim's life and what the victim's sister emphasized for this incident on the news article really should resonate louder than a church bell to those who had turned a blind eye to the victim's situation;

"Listen to your conscious."
